Joy in Service: Day 23 simple gifts

I'd like to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for joining with me in finding small ways to make the world a better place. My heart has been warmed as I read about the acts of service you've provided. I know there are many more random acts of kindness that you didn't tell me about. I appreciate your telling me what you've done and I've had a LOT of fun trying out a few of your ideas.

Two days ago I tried again to give a random stranger a flower (a small poinsettia instead of a big bouquet this time) in the grocery store parking lot. This time I said "you look like you need a smile - this is for you. Merry Christmas." She said, "you don't know how right you are" and she smiled!

I'm out and about with the family doing some amazing family fun things. That means that I'm going to wait until after the first of the year to contact more of you to send gifts. I'm loving getting at least one little corner  of the studio de-cluttered. Thank you for the opportunity to do so.

  2. Don't you just love the feeling you get when someone's day is happier because of a simple act on your part. Money cannot purchase it. It must come from within. Thank you for encouraging all of us not only to embrace our artist selves, but to step up and do our part to make the world a nicer place. Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays. The snowflakes are lovely.

  3. I didn't write in before but I'm letting you know that you did inspire me. Aside from little acts of kindness that I try to do whenever I can, I gave a Tim card (Canadian coffee shop) to an ex adult student of mine who stands all day selling papers once a week at our local Tim's. I put it in a c/Christmas card and passed it to him when I bought the paper.
    Merry Christmas to you!

  4. I've just resurfaced from the holiday fugue, and am catching up on my blog list... I hope that you and your family enjoyed Christmas together..

I must share a moment that I had with my daughter last night at bedtime - we were discussing our gifts, and faves etc. When I asked what her favourite gift was, she answered thusly: "My favourite gift was all the thought that everyone put into my gifts, Mama." This statement from my 10 year old daughter made me melt, and brought me more joy than any tangible gift can... All the best to you in 2012, Lyric!
